From Imagination to Reality: Our Ring Builder and Bespoke Service
One of the hardest parts of designing a ring is imagining what it will actually look like.
You might love a particular gemstone, have your eye on a setting and know which metal you prefer. But putting those things together in your head is another matter entirely. Would that green sapphire look better in yellow gold or platinum? Does the setting suit the shape of the stone? And will you love the combination as much as you think you will?
That gap between “I think this could work” and “I can actually see it” is exactly what we wanted our ring builder to help with.
A little more confidence before you commit
Our ring builder lets you choose your setting, centre stone, metal and ring size, then generate a preview of how your choices might look together.
It gives you room to experiment. Try the combination you had in mind, explore something different and get a clearer feel for what you like.
Previously, seeing a new combination brought together could mean commissioning a CAD design. CAD stands for computer-aided design, and it’s how we create a detailed digital model of your ring before making it.
The builder gives you an earlier glimpse without having to pay for our bespoke CAD service just to explore an idea. You can bridge that gap between imagination and reality with a little more confidence and peace of mind.
And if you spend an evening trying different combinations when you were supposed to be doing something else, we completely understand.
How the AI preview works
The ring builder uses AI to create a visual representation of your chosen setting, stone and metal.
We want to be open about what that means: the preview won’t always be 100% accurate. AI can interpret details differently, so the image should be treated as an indication of how the combination might look.
It’s useful for exploring the overall appearance of a ring and deciding whether you like the direction. The technology is improving every week, and we’re continuing to work on making those previews better.
The next stage is where we turn that idea into a precise design.
Every ring still has a human behind it
Choosing your ring through the builder doesn’t remove our team from the process. Every ring ordered through it still needs to be individually designed in CAD by us.
We take your chosen combination and create the actual digital model of the ring. This is where we work through the proportions, the setting and how everything fits together.
You’ll receive a CAD preview showing the accurate design of your ring, including its structure, proportions and stone placement. That gives you a clear view of what we’ll be making, beyond the AI’s initial interpretation.
The AI helps you visualise an idea. Our team then does the detailed design work to bring it to life. The human part is still very much there, from the CAD through to the finished ring.
If the builder says no, come and talk to us
The ring builder has some built-in guardrails. These prevent certain complicated or difficult combinations of stones and settings from being selected.
Some combinations need more individual attention than an online builder can accommodate. A setting might need to be adapted around a particular stone, for example, or the design might require a different approach to make everything work together.
If the builder won’t let you select the combination you want, please don’t take that as a verdict on whether we can make it.
It simply means we need to look at the idea with you through our bespoke service. The builder’s available options are only part of what we can create.
Bespoke: room to take your own direction
Our bespoke ring service gives you the freedom to develop a ring beyond the builder’s settings and combinations.
You might want to adapt an existing design, bring together an unusual arrangement of stones or start with an idea that looks completely different from anything on our website. You’re free to bring us whatever you have in mind, without being limited to the options in a menu.
You don’t need to arrive with a finished design, either. A few reference images, a rough sketch or a conversation about what you like can give us somewhere to begin. We’ll work through the details with you, including the practical considerations that make a ring comfortable, secure and suitable to wear.
Bespoke design carries a **£150 CAD charge, in addition to the cost of your stones and setting**. This covers the individual CAD design work involved in developing your ring.
Your initial consultation is free, so you can talk through your ideas with us before deciding to move forward.
Where should you start?
If you’d like to explore our settings, try different stones and get a feel for how your choices look together, the ring builder is a great place to begin. You can visualise your ideas without paying the bespoke CAD fee, and our team will still create the accurate CAD design when you order.
If you already have something particular in mind, or you reach a point where the builder won’t accommodate your idea, come and speak to us about bespoke.
You’re also welcome to start in the builder and continue the conversation with us. Sometimes seeing a first version is exactly what helps you work out what you really want.
